Breakdown of Qualified Aspirants and Fellowship Numbers
A senior official from the National Testing Agency confirmed that more than 6.07 lakh candidates took part in the nationwide eligibility test across 84 subjects. From this substantial examinee pool, over 97,000 candidates met the eligibility cutoff required for PhD admissions in recognized universities and higher education institutions. Furthermore, more than 4,000 candidates achieved high enough percentiles to qualify for the Junior Research Fellowship. These qualified scholars can now proceed with their research grant applications and academic career steps across institutions nationwide.
Re-Exam Scheduled for English, Commerce, and Sociology on September 9 and 10
The examination authority noted that results for three specific disciplines English, Commerce, and Sociology have not been included in this release. An expert review committee earlier detected factual mistakes, translation errors, typographical inaccuracies, and language issues in the original June question papers for these three disciplines. Consequently, a re-examination was ordered. The tests for these three subjects will now be conducted on September 09 and 10, 2026, ensuring fairness for all affected examinees.
Clarification on Login Credentials and Scorecard Access
In a formal update shared through an official post on X, the National Testing Agency stated that the results for the 84 subjects were officially published on August 28, 2026. Aspirants can log into ugcnet.nta.nic.in to view, download, and preserve a printed copy of their scorecards. The agency specifically alerted candidates who registered for English, Commerce, and Sociology that attempting to check their scores currently may trigger an 'invalid application number or password' alert. Their scorecards will be processed and uploaded only after the conclusion of the re-examinations in September.
