Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh is actively advancing its mission to attain ODF Plus status, with the state administration concentrating heavily on sustainable sanitation practices, efficient solid and liquid waste management, and the upkeep of cleanliness in public areas, according to Minister Ojing Tasing.
Reviewing Progress in the National Capital
Tasing elaborated on the state's ongoing sanitation initiatives during a formal meeting with Union Jal Shakti Minister C R Paatil in New Delhi on Friday. The high-level discussion served as a comprehensive review of the execution and overall advancement of the central government's Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen).

Taking to X, Tasing, who manages the Panchayati Raj and Rural Development portfolios for Arunachal Pradesh, shared details about his interaction. He noted that he called upon Union Jal Shakti Minister C R Paatil at his New Delhi residence. The meeting also saw the presence of Aishwarya Singh, Joint Secretary for SBM-G and DDWS, alongside Ashok Meena, Joint Secretary for DDWS, SBM-G, and JJM, facilitating a constructive dialogue on rural development progress.
Building on Past Milestones
Arunachal Pradesh successfully crossed the open defecation-free milestone back in December 2017. Ever since that achievement, the region has steadily progressed toward the subsequent phases of the broader sanitation mission. Current priorities heavily feature sustaining sanitation achievements, reinforcing rural waste handling systems, and fostering cleaner, healthier village environments.
Administrative Commitment and Central Backing
Tasing emphasized that the state remains deeply dedicated to reinforcing rural sanitation infrastructure through sustained administrative coordination and collective determination. Responding to the state's roadmap, Paatil assured Tasing of the central government's total cooperation and backing to help Arunachal Pradesh successfully achieve ODF Plus status and establish a sustainable rural ecosystem.
