NITI Aayog Member Joram Aniya visited Lok Bhavan in Itanagar on Friday to meet Arunachal Pradesh Governor K T Parnaik. The high-level meeting centered on strengthening infrastructure, expanding connectivity networks, and driving sustainable growth across the frontier state.
Focus on Transport and Border Infrastructure
According to an official statement, the discussions prioritized upgrades to road and transportation networks, digital connectivity, healthcare delivery, educational facilities, and power systems. Particular attention was directed toward accelerating development projects in regions situated along the international border.
Balancing Modern Growth with Cultural Heritage
During the talks, Governor K T Parnaik underscored the need for a customized development framework that aligns with the unique geographical layout, rich tribal traditions, and strategic positioning of Arunachal Pradesh as a border state. He maintained that contemporary infrastructure expansion must proceed alongside the preservation of local ecological systems and cultural identity.
Leveraging Natural Advantages and Policy Support
The Governor noted that NITI Aayog can offer valuable assistance through data-driven policy recommendations, extended planning horizons, and improved inter-ministerial coordination to advance the objectives of 'Viksit Arunachal' and 'Viksit Bharat@2047'. He also outlined ongoing state initiatives in education, healthcare, tourism, and technology, while requesting federal agency support to highlight the state's potential nationally. Furthermore, he emphasized sectors where the region holds natural strengths, including hydropower, horticulture, organic agriculture, bamboo production, medicinal plants, and the green economy, while advocating for innovation, skill training, and youth empowerment.
