Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Raksha Khadse recently evaluated the sports infrastructure in Mizoram and engaged directly with local athletes during her official visit to Aizawl. The primary objective of the trip was centered around bolstering the existing support systems for athletic talent both within the state and across the wider Northeast region.
High-Level Administrative Consultations
During the visit, Khadse held discussions with Mizoram Minister of State for Sports & Youth Services Lalnghinglova Hmar. The dialogue focused heavily on formulating collaborative measures to further reinforce the sporting framework operating within the state boundaries.
The conversation addressed key areas including effective Centre-State coordination, systematic development of grassroots sports infrastructure, nurturing raw athletic talent, and generating enhanced career opportunities for young sports aspirants originating from Mizoram and neighboring northeastern states.
Inspection of Sports Authority of India Facility
The Union Minister subsequently toured the Sports Authority of India centre located in Aizawl. There, she examined the physical sports infrastructure currently available and held detailed interactions with resident athletes, professional coaches, and essential support staff. Sports Authority of India Assistant Director Shivam Yadav accompanied her throughout this institutional visit.
While speaking directly with the trainees, Khadse listened attentively to accounts regarding their rigorous training regimens, competitive hurdles, and personal sporting ambitions, while praising their unwavering dedication toward achieving excellence.
Comprehensive Athlete Support Framework
Khadse underscored the critical necessity of providing young sportspersons in the Northeast with high-standard coaching methodologies, scientific medical backing, proper rehabilitation facilities, optimal nutrition plans, and adequate competitive exposure to help them transition to national and international platforms.
Furthermore, she highlighted the instrumental role played by the Sports Authority of India and the Khelo India initiative in establishing clear developmental pathways that guide athletes from grassroots participation directly into competitive sports arenas.
Infrastructure Investments and Regional Potential
The central administration continues to finance vital infrastructure projects across Mizoram. Among these ongoing developments is a dedicated Khelo India undertaking to install a modern synthetic hockey turf alongside advanced lighting systems at the Aizawl training facility.
The Union Minister acknowledged Mizoram's immense natural aptitude for sports, with specific emphasis on football and hockey, stressing that training amenities should be constructed in closer physical proximity to the homes and primary practice grounds of the athletes.
She reiterated that the governmental strategy aims to construct a holistic athlete development ecosystem where physical infrastructure merges seamlessly with modern sports science, nutrition, and regular tournament exposure.
Concluding her visit, Khadse observed that sustained institutional backing alongside robust cooperation between central and state authorities will remain vital in enabling a greater number of sportspersons from Mizoram and the Northeast to excel at premier competitive levels.
