Preparations have gathered momentum for the upcoming 14th International Tourism Mart (ITM) scheduled to take place in Tawang, as Arunachal Pradesh Tourism Minister Pasang Dorjee Sona conducted an extensive review meeting on Monday. Evaluating the blueprint of the high-profile gathering, the minister called for seamless and synchronized execution across administrative machinery to project the state's tourism potential, unique heritage, and hospitable traditions to an international audience.
Joint Initiative and Event Schedule
The prestigious tourism mart is organized as a collaborative initiative between the Union Ministry of Tourism and the government of Arunachal Pradesh. The multi-day event is set to run from October 27 through November 1. Monday's review session brought together delegates and officials from the Union Tourism Ministry, the state tourism department, and administrative authorities representing both Tawang and West Kameng districts to streamline on-ground coordination.
Focus on Comprehensive Hospitality and Visitor Logistics
Underscoring the importance of meticulous planning, Minister Pasang Dorjee Sona urged all departments and participating stakeholders to function in close harmony. Sona stated, “We have to be fully prepared to welcome our guests and present the best of the state to the world.” He instructed authorities to ensure that operational focus extends well past the primary event venue. The overall itinerary must prioritize the complete visitor journey, encompassing quality accommodation, robust transportation networks, seamless logistics, official protocol, and traditional hospitality standards.
Global Participation and Northeast Tourism Potential
Delegations from approximately 20 countries are anticipated to attend the summit. Highlighting the cultural and relational dimension of the visit, Sona noted, “We want our guests to experience not only the event but also the warmth, culture and beauty of Arunachal Pradesh.” At its core, the International Tourism Mart is designed to project the diverse travel prospects of Northeast India before domestic and global travelers alike. It establishes a dynamic commercial platform connecting regional tourism operators, international buyers and sellers, travel industry businesses, media representatives, and governmental bodies.
Spotlight on Tawang’s Cultural and Natural Treasures
For Tawang district, hosting the mart marks a major milestone to exhibit its Himalayan vistas, deep-rooted Buddhist legacy, and distinct Monpa cultural traditions to global travelers. The high-altitude region boasts globally recognized landmarks, including the historic Tawang Monastery, Sela Pass, Nuranang Falls, and scenic glacial lakes. Authorities aim to leverage the upcoming congregation to anchor Tawang prominently on the global travel itinerary through integrated logistical and cultural showcases.
