Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated on November 6 that the state, which was once shaken by gunfire and violence, is now aspiring to move forward at the speed of a bullet train. This represents a new era of development, connectivity, and fresh opportunities. In a post on social media, the Chief Minister noted that Assam has undergone a major transformation over the past few years, leaving its turbulent past behind and moving towards a future filled with progress and growth.
From the Shadow of Violence to the Path of Progress
CM Sarma recalled the era when traveling from Assam to the national capital of New Delhi took anywhere between 30 to 36 hours. Pointing out the improving connectivity in the region, he highlighted how far the state has come from those grueling journeys. He emphasized that the region, which once endured arduous trips just to reach Delhi, now stands on the threshold of enhanced connectivity, development, and new possibilities.
Redefining Assam Beyond Infrastructure
The Chief Minister stressed that this transformation is not merely limited to transport infrastructure, but rather reflects a comprehensive shift in the identity and future of the northeastern state. Contrasting the state's violent past with its current developmental aspirations, CM Sarma described the journey as moving from the sound of bullets to a bullet train. He noted that leaving behind a past filled with fear and terror to soar towards new horizons of progress is an unstoppable journey for the new Assam.
The Core Pillars of Growth and Integration
The Chief Minister has repeatedly emphasized that better infrastructure, connectivity, and peace are the primary foundations of the state's transformation. Meanwhile, the government continues its persistent efforts to connect Assam and the entire northeastern region more strongly with the rest of the country.
