Two-wheeler demand in India experienced a sharp upturn as the festive buying momentum kicked into high gear. Japanese manufacturer Honda demonstrated strong retail and wholesale momentum in September 2026, delivering an annual volume surge of 24 percent. Total dispatches for the month reached 7.06 lakh units, advancing significantly from the 5.68 lakh units registered during September 2025. This performance was driven by an expanding consumer base in the domestic arena along with steady shipments sent to export destinations.
Domestic Momentum and Overseas Shipments in September 2026
The domestic retail channel served as the primary growth engine for Honda during September. Within the Indian market alone, dispatches reached 6.36 lakh units, representing a 26 percent climb compared to the 5.05 lakh units dispatched in September 2025. Showroom footfalls increased in anticipation of the festive calendar, supporting high volumes across entry-level commuter bikes and daily scooters. Meanwhile, foreign shipments sustained healthy traction. The company shipped 69,498 units overseas in September 2026, an 11 percent increase over the 62,471 units exported in the corresponding month of 2025.
First Half of FY27 Reaches 34.40 Lakh Cumulative Dispatches
Beyond individual monthly tallies, Honda maintained strong operational rhythm throughout the first half of financial year 2026-27 (April to September 2026). Across this six-month timeframe, the manufacturer recorded combined dispatches of 34.40 lakh units, up 15 percent compared to the 29.93 lakh units logged during H1 FY26. Local sales formed the bulk of this volume, contributing 30.44 lakh units against 26.82 lakh units in the first half of the preceding fiscal year, translating into a 13 percent domestic rise.
Export Outbound Expands 27 Percent Across H1
Global demand for Honda models built in India also gained noticeable momentum. During the first half of FY27, outbound shipments reached 3.96 lakh units. When compared against the 3.11 lakh units shipped abroad during H1 FY26, this represents an expansion of 27 percent. This balanced performance across both domestic consumption and foreign market supply chains has reinforced the manufacturer's capacity utilization and operational baseline.
Broad Product Range Underpins Multi-Segment Reach
The manufacturer's consistent market penetration is supported by a wide vehicle line-up catering to distinct customer brackets. Its scooter roster features high-volume stalwarts such as Activa 110, Dio 110, Activa 125, and Dio 125. In the mass commuter motorcycle arena, fuel-efficient nameplates like Shine 100, Shine 100 DX, SP125, Shine 125, and Livo command substantial buyer interest. For performance and premium buyers, the portfolio extends to Hornet 2.0, Unicorn, CB125 Hornet, CB350, CB350 H’ness, CB350 RS, as well as adventure models like NX200 and NX500, ensuring steady traction across rural, semi-urban, and metropolitan dealerships.
