Maruti Suzuki India posted substantial growth in its domestic passenger vehicle operations for September 2026, reinforcing its volume footprint across the country. The automaker delivered 1,81,838 domestic passenger units during the month, achieving a 36.91 percent expansion compared to the 1,32,820 units recorded in September 2025. Sequentially, the figures improved by 2.75 percent over the 1,76,971 units sold in August 2026. Taking into account light commercial vehicles, shipments to other manufacturers, and exports, overall monthly volumes rose by 24.44 percent year-on-year to hit 2,36,013 units.
Utility Segment Expands Over 62 Percent
The primary catalyst for this volume momentum came from the utility vehicle portfolio, which registered a 62.05 percent leap. Utility dispatches reached 78,911 units for the month, rising sharply from 48,695 units in the corresponding period of the previous year. This portfolio features the Brezza, Ertiga, e-Vitara, Fronx, Grand Vitara, Invicto, Jimny, Victoris, and XL6. Traditional passenger cars, including the mini, compact, and midsize lines, also maintained an upward trajectory, rising 24.02 percent to 91,887 units. Concurrently, sales of the Eeco van climbed 10.01 percent to reach 11,040 units.
Export Trends and OEM Supply to Toyota
International shipments showed positive momentum as exports increased 4.77 percent to 44,219 units. In the commercial division, the Super Carry light commercial vehicle rose 18.09 percent to 3,414 units. Conversely, dispatches supplied to Toyota experienced a sharp contraction of 44.32 percent, falling to 6,542 units. This contraction has been linked to transitions surrounding the Baleno-based Glanza facelift.
Quarterly Milestones and Market Reaction
Cumulative performance across July to September 2026 showed total dispatches of 6,96,654 units, representing a 26.46 percent year-on-year increase. Domestic passenger vehicle dispatches alone grew 38.11 percent to 5,55,012 units over the quarter. For the first half of the fiscal year running from April to September, overall dispatches advanced 27.87 percent to 13,79,378 units, pushing domestic passenger car numbers past the 10.80 lakh mark. Despite these operational milestones, the automaker's equity faced pressure on October 1. Due to broad-based sector liquidation and a 3.7 percent drop in the Nifty Auto index, Maruti shares retreated more than 5 percent in intraday trade, touching a low of 11,305 rupees.
