Toyota Kirloskar Motors has expanded its full-size SUV portfolio in India with the arrival of the 2026 Toyota Fortuner Leader Edition. Targeted at buyers seeking distinct aesthetic appeal alongside the nameplate's proven ruggedness, this special trim enters the market with an ex-showroom price tag of Rs 36.51 lakh for the 4×2 manual variant, while the 4×2 automatic derivative has been priced at Rs 38.72 lakh. Order books are scheduled to open on October 12, 2026, across brand dealerships as well as through the official digital portal. Serving as an evolution over the earlier 2024 and 2025 Leader Edition iterations, the vehicle brings targeted cosmetic updates and interior enhancements without altering the core mechanical foundation.
Milestone Sales and Visual Tweaks
The nameplate continues to maintain strong commercial momentum, with total cumulative sales now crossing 3.3 lakh units in the domestic market. Buyers considering this special edition can pick from three exterior paint finishes, comprising Super White, Platinum White Pearl, and Attitude Black. Exterior enhancements have been curated to deliver a sportier stance, headlined by a signature front grille and contrasting black trim elements across the body. The profile and rear benefit from gloss-black alloy wheels featuring matching hub caps, a blackened roof finish, a black antenna, body-side mouldings, a distinctive hood emblem, and dark garnish on the rear door.
Interior Upgrades and Convenience Features
The cabin environment receives a bespoke touch through dual-tone seat upholstery finished in black and maroon, complemented by coordinating door trim panels. To elevate night-time ambience, Toyota has installed fresh ambient lighting alongside illuminated scuff plates at the entry sills. In terms of functional additions, drivers get auto-folding outside rear-view mirrors and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) for daily convenience. Crucial safety systems remain standard across the package, incorporating seven airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, and traction control systems to maintain occupant protection.
Powertrain Specifications and Warranty Support
Under the hood, mechanical specifications remain identical to the standard version, ensuring consistent driving dynamics. Propulsion comes from the familiar 2.8-litre turbo-diesel engine, which generates approximately 201 to 204 bhp of power. Torque output stands at 420 Nm when paired with the 6-speed manual gearbox, stepping up to 500 Nm on the 6-speed automatic transmission. The Leader Edition is restricted exclusively to a 4×2 drivetrain layout. Ownership peace of mind is reinforced by five years of complimentary roadside assistance along with a standard manufacturer vehicle warranty covering three years or 1,00,000 km.
