Mini India has officially opened pre-launch bookings for the limited-run Mini Cooper Oxford Edition, a commemorative model developed on the new three-door hatchback. Dedicated to the brand's British lineage and the iconic manufacturing home of Oxford, this bespoke edition will be brought to Indian shores in restricted quantities, making it an exclusive offering for driving enthusiasts and collectors alike.
Heritage Linking 1959 Roots to 25 Years of Modern Production
The manufacturing legacy of the classic Mini began at the Oxford plant back in 1959. Following the brand's evolution, BMW Group initiated modern Mini vehicle production at the same UK site in 2001. The Oxford Edition directly marks this 25-year modern production journey, paying tribute to the manufacturing base that continues to anchor the automotive icon's identity.
Exterior Styling Elements and Cabin Highlights
To deliver a distinct British aesthetic, the exterior showcases a modern interpretation of the Union Jack across a contrasting white roof. This roof graphic is complemented by full-length red and white racing stripes, matching white mirror caps, and distinct 18-inch two-tone slide spoke alloy wheels. The special edition is finished in an Indigo Sunset Blue exterior paint shade. Inside the cabin, motorsport pedigree is reflected on the passenger-side floor mat, which features a checkered flag pattern paying homage to the carmaker's historic rally roots.
Mechanical Setup and Powertrain Figures
Under the skin, the mechanical components remain identical to the standard hatchback. Buyers can opt for this special edition in both Cooper C and Cooper S variants. The Cooper S configuration employs a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine capable of producing 204 horsepower and 300 Newton-metres of peak torque. This setup allows the compact hatchback to sprint from 0 to 100 kilometres per hour in a brisk 6.6 seconds.
Booking Process, Retail Footprint, and Pricing
While definitive market launch dates and exact prices for the Oxford Edition have not been formally announced, the regular three-door Cooper lineup starts at around 44 lakh rupees.
