Speaking at the formal inauguration of the Samriddh Mahila-Samriddh Bihar campaign at Bapu Sabhagar in Patna on Thursday, the Chief Minister outlined an ambitious roadmap focused on expanding higher education opportunities, boosting self-employment, advancing clean energy adoption, and bolstering public healthcare services statewide.
Establishment of Women's University with Exclusive Female Leadership
Extending warm greetings to sisters and women across the state on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary announced the establishment of a dedicated Women's University in Bihar. Designed to offer higher education to female students, the institution will feature an unprecedented organizational structure. Every position within the university, starting from the Vice-Chancellor down to professors, administrative officials, and support staff, will be managed exclusively by women. The Chief Minister stated that this institution will provide new horizons for the aspirations of young women in Bihar, building a holistic ecosystem that nurtures leadership qualities, practical skills, self-confidence, and financial independence alongside academic learning.
PM Surya Ghar Solar Initiative for 10 Lakh Jeevika Didis
Marking the sacred occasion of protection and care, the Chief Minister announced a major renewable energy initiative targeting approximately 10 lakh Jeevika Didis across the state. Under the PM Surya Ghar scheme, the government has set a firm target of March 31 to connect these households to solar power systems by installing rooftop solar panels. This clean energy initiative is designed to completely eliminate electricity expenditure for beneficiary households, bringing monthly power bills down to zero. Furthermore, the generation of excess solar energy will open up new recurring revenue streams for women, marking a crucial step toward domestic economic security, environmental sustainability, and a brighter future.
600 Crore Direct Benefit Transfer and Recruitment of 7,376 Government Nurses
In a major financial boost under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rozgar Yojana, a total sum of 600 crore rupees was transferred directly into the bank accounts of 5 lakh women beneficiaries through Direct Benefit Transfer. Reinforcing the public health infrastructure, the Chief Minister extended heartfelt congratulations to 7,376 women who were selected to serve as government nurses. To strengthen the rural market economy and financial inclusion, credit facilities were extended to 10,000 beneficiaries under the Jeevika Nidhi, and construction work commenced for 112 rural haats across various districts of the state.
Target of 1 Crore Jobs and 1 Crore Lakhpati Didis
Laying out the state's broader economic direction, Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary set a clear benchmark to generate employment opportunities for 1 crore women and enable 1 crore women to attain Lakhpati Didi status. To achieve this ambitious target, the state will focus on boosting women's active participation and income generation across animal husbandry, manufacturing, and the service sector. Concluding his address, the Chief Minister emphasized that empowering women remains the solid bedrock of a prosperous Bihar, reiterating that building self-reliance and economic independence among women is central to realizing the vision of Developed India-Prosperous Bihar.
