Another Incident Exposing Bihar's Healthcare System
Reports of negligence linked to Bihar's health department keep surfacing one after another. On one side, people run from pillar to post at government hospitals yet fail to get treatment; on the other, residents of rural areas are forced to depend on quack doctors for everything from minor to serious ailments. Whenever a major incident occurs, a campaign against such fake doctors is launched for a few days, but once a little time passes, everything slips back to the way it was. There appears to be no significant initiative to ensure that ordinary people can get affordable treatment from qualified and trained doctors. A young child became the victim of treatment by one such quack doctor, paying for it with his life.
Child Fell Unconscious After Injection, Died at Hospital
In Purnia, a child died due to the wrong treatment administered by quack doctor Dheeraj Mehta. According to the deceased child's uncle, Jitendra Rishi, a nail had pierced the boy's foot, causing swelling at the spot. When they took him for treatment to Dheeraj Mehta, a doctor in their own village, he gave the child an injection. Soon after the injection, the child suddenly fell unconscious. He was rushed to GMCH, where doctors declared him dead. Regarding this matter, the grieving family has submitted an application at Champanagar police station demanding action against the culprit. The accused quack doctor has reportedly been absconding since the incident.
