A deadly conflict over a minor drainage and alleyway dispute led to a tragic loss of life in Gondvigaha village, situated within the Chiksaura police station limits of Bihar's Nalanda district. What began as a verbal argument between two factions on Thursday morning quickly escalated into a violent clash involving firearms. During the chaotic shooting, 30-year-old Ajay Kumar, son of local resident Vijay Paswan, sustained a fatal gunshot injury to his chest. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where attending doctors declared him dead upon arrival. The incident has left the entire locality gripped by high tension.
Three-Day Old Disagreements Re-Erupted on Thursday Morning
According to family members of the deceased, tensions surrounding the drainage channel and access pathway had been simmering for several days. Just three days prior to the incident, a physical altercation had taken place between the women of both households over the exact same issue. At that time, local village elders and police personnel intervened to mediate the situation, temporarily pacifying both sides. However, the underlying resentment remained unresolved, resurfacing aggressively on Thursday morning when the two parties confronted each other once again.
Brawl Escalated from Wooden Rods to Open Fire
The heated arguments on Thursday morning rapidly degenerated into physical assault, with members of both groups attacking each other with wooden rods and sticks. Midst the violent brawl, perpetrators suddenly brandished firearms and opened indiscriminate fire. Hearing the gunfire, panic spread throughout Gondvigaha village as frightened residents scrambled to find shelter. Ajay Kumar was caught in the line of fire during the commotion, receiving a direct bullet wound to the chest and collapsing in a pool of blood.
Declared Dead at Hilsa Hospital as Police Force Deployed
Villagers and family members immediately transported the injured Ajay Kumar to the Hilsa Sub-Divisional Hospital for emergency treatment. Upon arrival, medical officers examined him and formally pronounced him dead. Upon receiving news of the murder, senior police officers rushed to the village. In-charge DSP Ranjan Kumar confirmed that police units arrived at the scene promptly to secure evidence and investigate the circumstances. Chiksaura Station House Officer Gaurav Sindhu stated that an active search is underway to identify and apprehend the shooters involved. To prevent any further flare-up of violence, additional police personnel have been deployed across Gondvigaha village.
