Eligible citizens across Bihar whose names did not make it onto the voter rolls during earlier verification exercises will soon have a dedicated window to secure their registration. The office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) has scheduled a state-wide Special Summary Revision (SSR) running from November 12 through December 11. Authorities have designated January 1, 2027, as the qualifying cutoff date for determining eligibility. The month-long initiative places a decisive focus on bringing left-out citizens, eligible young adults, and persons with disabilities into the formal electoral system.
Statewide Panel Focuses on Accessible and Inclusive Polling
To ensure wider participation among differently-abled citizens and evaluate polling station logistics, a high-level review was convened under the leadership of Additional Chief Electoral Officer Madhav Kumar Singh. Presiding over the State Steering Committee on Accessible Elections (SSCAE), officials assessed ground preparations to guarantee that polling booths offer smooth access and necessary accommodations on voting day. The administrative roadmap aims to systematically eliminate hurdles that keep vulnerable groups away from democratic participation.
Forms and Procedures for Application Submission
Detailing the mechanisms available to the public, Deputy Chief Electoral Officer Poonam Kumari highlighted that applicants can submit their details through either digital or paper channels. Poonam Kumari noted, "Eligible persons with disabilities can register their names in the voter list through both online and offline modes." Prospective electors can pick the exact paperwork suited to their situation. Individuals looking for a fresh enrollment must submit Form 6. Where an entry needs deletion, Form 7 serves the purpose. For updating residential addresses, correcting misspelled personal information, requesting replacement identity cards, or marking oneself under the disability category, citizens must file Form 8.
Evaluating Digital Portals and Dedicated Assistance Platforms
Administrative leadership also reviewed the functionality of tech-driven services aimed at making electoral assistance instantly reachable. The evaluation covered the official voter service portal, the toll-free 1950 telephone helpline, the Saksham application, and the ECINet software platform. Several key officials took part in the deliberations, including Deputy Chief Electoral Officers Ashok Priyadarshi, Manoj Kumar Singh, and Ratnambar Nilay, alongside Higher Education Director NK Agrawal and delegates from related government departments.
