The Bihar government approved 25 major proposals in a single cabinet meeting on Tuesday, covering technology, tourism, women's safety and urban infrastructure. Chaired by Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, the meeting's biggest talking points were the decisions to set up the Bihar State Artificial Intelligence Centre of Excellence and to form Bihar State Ropeway Company Limited. The cabinet also approved buying 1500 scooters for women police personnel, upgrading water supply in several cities and developing Sitamarhi's Punauradham as a tourist site.
The meeting also cleared proposals to raise the honorarium of ex-servicemen ward guards working in state jails, implement the Bihar Tourism Service Rules 2026, acquire land for greenfield airport projects, and set panchayat boundaries. The government says these 25 decisions will create jobs, strengthen infrastructure and improve everyday facilities for citizens.
A dedicated centre for artificial intelligence
The cabinet approved forming a separate corporation named the Bihar State Artificial Intelligence Centre of Excellence, or AI CoE, along with its memorandum and articles of association. This clears the way for the body to formally begin functioning.
Easier access to religious and tourist sites
To make it easier for pilgrims to reach the state's temples and tourist spots, a new entity called Bihar State Ropeways Company Limited will be set up. Going forward, this company will build and operate ropeways at various locations across the state.
1500 scooters for women police personnel
To ensure the safety and quick mobility of women police personnel on duty, 1500 scooters will be purchased. Of these, 1000 will run on petrol while the remaining 500 will be electric scooters.
Water supply projects approved for three cities
Under the centrally sponsored AMRUT 2.0 mission, administrative approval was given for the Khagaria water supply project worth 170.86 crore rupees, the Sitamarhi water supply project worth 197.13 crore rupees, and the Samastipur water supply project worth 228.45 crore rupees.
Tourism and religious sites also in focus
The cabinet approved developing Sitamarhi's Punauradham, proposals related to the Maa Mundeshwari Temple Trust, and the Bihar Tourism Service Rules 2026, moves expected to give a push to religious tourism in the state.
Pay hike for ex-servicemen ward guards
The monthly honorarium of contractual ex-servicemen ward guards working in the state's jails has been raised from 19,800 rupees to 30,000 rupees.
Groundwork for a new airport in Bhagalpur
The cabinet also cleared proposals for land acquisition to build greenfield airports in Bhagalpur and a few other areas.
Panchayat boundaries and new rules
Additionally, the cabinet approved panchayat delimitation, the Bihar Panchayati Raj Rules, the Tourism Service Rules 2026, and a few other administrative proposals.
