RJD MLA from the Morwa assembly constituency, Ranvijay Sahu, rushed to the scene upon receiving word of the tragedy and openly accused the warehouse owner of orchestrating the truck driver's murder. According to the legislator, Ramesh Rai had transported sacks from Raipur in Chhattisgarh and arrived at the warehouse situated on Mahuli Road in Patna. On Saturday afternoon, the warehouse owner reportedly accused the driver of getting the sacks wet and slapped an exorbitant penalty of around six lakh rupees on him.
Brutal Assault Over Refusal to Pay Penalty
The MLA alleged that when Ramesh Rai refused to pay the arbitrary six lakh rupee demand, the warehouse owner and his associates launched a violent assault against him. The savage beating allegedly resulted in the driver's death on the spot. Following the incident, the victim's body remained at the location, which quickly galvanized fellow transporters. A massive crowd of truck drivers assembled at the site, declaring that they would not disperse until concrete action was taken against those responsible for the crime.
