A birthday invitation turned into an ambush in Bihar's Vaishali district, where a group of friends allegedly shot one of their own after calling him over to celebrate his birthday. The injured man is currently in critical condition and undergoing treatment at Patna Medical College Hospital, known as PMCH. Police say their initial investigation points to a love triangle behind the attack. The incident took place near Harivanshpur, within the jurisdiction of Gangabridge police station.
Lured with a birthday party invite
The injured man has been identified as Shubham Kumar, a resident of Chhoti Yusufpur under Nagar police station area. According to the information available, Shubham's friends called him late at night on the pretext of celebrating his birthday. The moment he reached the spot, the accused opened fire on him without warning. A bullet hit him directly in the chest, and he collapsed on the spot with severe injuries.
From Sadar Hospital to PMCH
Local residents rushed to help Shubham and first took him to Vaishali Sadar Hospital. Doctors there gave him initial treatment, but given the seriousness of his condition, he was referred to Patna Medical College Hospital. His condition is currently being described as critical.
A love affair at the root of the attack
As soon as news of the shooting spread, Sadar SDPO Subodh Kumar reached the spot with a police team and began investigating. According to police, the early findings suggest that Shubham was in love with a young woman, and the main accused was also interested in the same woman. It was this rivalry that allegedly led the friends to call Shubham over on the pretext of a birthday celebration and shoot him.
Search for the accused continues
Police say the accused involved in the shooting have already been identified, and raids are continuously being conducted to arrest them. The investigation is being taken forward based on evidence collected from the spot and other technical leads. The incident has triggered fear and shock across the area. Police have assured that all the accused will be arrested soon and the case fully cracked. Meanwhile, Shubham's family members are demanding strict action against the accused.
