A violent shooting incident caused widespread panic in the Chakia police station area of Motihari district in Bihar on Friday evening. Armed miscreants chased a young man near Center Chowk in Pokharia Tola before shooting him at close range. As news of the public attack spread, fear gripped the local marketplace. Prompt police action following the incident led to the swift arrest of three individuals suspected of involvement in the crime.
Chased and Shot in Broad Daylight
The incident occurred around 5:00 PM on Friday when 27-year-old Nitish Kumar, also known as Golu, son of Sanjay Chaurasia, was returning to his home in Pokharia Tola from Center Chowk. According to details gathered about the attack, four armed assailants riding two motorcycles intercepted him on his way back. Upon noticing weapons in the hands of the attackers, Nitish attempted to flee to save his life.
The miscreants dismounted from their vehicles and pursued him on foot. After chasing him down, they fired at him. The bullet pierced through Nitish's shoulder, causing him to collapse on the spot with severe injuries. Relatives and local bystanders immediately rushed the wounded youth to Chakia Sub-Divisional Hospital. Given the severity of his condition, attending doctors administered emergency first aid and subsequently referred him to SKMCH in Muzaffarpur for specialized medical treatment.
Land Dispute Suspected as Motive, Three Arrested
Following the shooting, law enforcement personnel initiated immediate raids across suspected locations in the region. Chakia Station House Officer Dharmaprakash Kumar confirmed the arrest of three suspects in connection with the shooting. The victim's family has accused four persons, including an individual identified as Satyam alias Raja, of orchestrating the ambush. Preliminary investigations indicate that an ongoing dispute over property land was the driving factor behind the assault.
Police officers are currently interrogating the three detained individuals to trace the whereabouts of the fourth absconding accomplice. Security patrols and investigative procedures have been intensified in the area to maintain law and order and ensure all perpetrators are brought to justice.
