A shocking incident of cyber-grooming, blackmail, and illegal confinement has surfaced from Nagpur, Maharashtra, where a 16-year-old minor girl was held hostage and brutally tortured. Acting on a missing person complaint, the Hudkeshwar Police tracked down the victim to a rented room in the city and rescued her safely. The accused was apprehended red-handed from the scene. The survivor is currently undergoing medical treatment at a local hospital, while strict legal proceedings under the POCSO Act and kidnapping charges have been initiated against the culprit.
Fake Identity and Blackmailing Plot
The perpetrator of the crime has been identified as Nirbhay Pakhare, a resident of Thane, Maharashtra. Last year, Pakhare created a fraudulent Instagram profile under the alias 'Akash Mehra'. Using this deceptive digital persona, he befriended the 16-year-old girl from Nagpur. Over several months of digital interaction, he gained her confidence by feigning a romantic relationship. Under the guise of trust, he coerced the minor into sharing some private photographs with him. Soon after obtaining the pictures, Pakhare dropped his facade and began blackmailing her, threatening to upload the sensitive photographs onto the internet. Terrified by the threat of public exposure, the girl was forced to submit to his demand to meet in person.
Victim Went Missing on August 2
Trapped in the blackmailing scheme, the victim went missing from her residence on August 2. When she failed to return, her frantic family members began searching for her across the city and contacted acquaintances. Having found no leads regarding her whereabouts, the parents approached the Hudkeshwar Police Station in Nagpur and filed a formal missing person report on August 2. Recognizing the gravity of a missing minor case, the local police immediately mobilized tracking teams to trace her whereabouts.
Late-Night Raid on Dighori Rented Accommodation
To locate the missing teenager, the police deployed technical surveillance and analyzed digital traces. The cyber tracking successfully pinpointed a location in the Dighori area of Nagpur. At approximately 11:00 PM on Monday night, August 3, a police team raided a rented room in Dighori. Upon breaking into the room, officers encountered a harrowing scene: the victim was lying on a bed with her hands and feet securely tied up, while Pakhare stood beside her holding a leather belt. Officers also discovered a knife placed right next to the bed. The girl had visible injury marks and bruises across her body, indicating severe physical assault, illegal confinement, and sexual exploitation.
Booked Under POCSO Act and Sent to 2-Day Remand
The police team immediately rescued the minor and transferred her to a nearby hospital, where she is presently receiving medical care and psychological support. The accused, Nirbhay Pakhare, was arrested on the spot. Hudkeshwar Police registered a case against him under stringent provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, alongside charges of kidnapping, wrongful confinement, and physical assault. Pakhare was produced before a local court, which remanded him to two days of police custody. Investigators are currently conducting a forensic analysis of his mobile device and active social media accounts to determine if he has victimized other minors using similar tactics.
