A deadly shooting incident in the Byapur locality under Maner police station of Patna district claimed the life of a local primary agricultural credit society (PACS) chairman and left the husband of a block pramukh critically injured on Sunday night. The deceased has been identified as PACS chairman Sanjeet Kumar alias Bhanu, while the injured person is Pintu Kumar alias Poison, whose wife serves as the local block pramukh. The brazen attack carried out late in the evening has triggered widespread panic and heightened tension across the rural belt.
Ambushed While Sitting On The Verandah
The violent assault took place between 9:00 PM and 10:00 PM on Sunday when Sanjeet Kumar and Pintu Kumar were sitting together on their outhouse verandah. Without warning, four unidentified armed criminals arrived at the scene riding on two separate motorcycles. They quickly surrounded the area and opened indiscriminate fire on both individuals.
According to initial findings, the assailants fired roughly a dozen rounds in rapid succession, sending shockwaves through the neighborhood. Both victims sustained direct bullet wounds and collapsed on the spot in pools of blood. After executing the brutal ambush, the attackers fled the scene on their two-wheelers before locals could intervene.
One Succumbs During Treatment, Survivor Hospitalized
Alerted by the sound of gunfire, family members and nearby residents rushed to the spot and immediately shifted the two bleeding victims to the nearest medical center. Despite extensive resuscitation efforts by doctors, Sanjeet Kumar alias Bhanu succumbed to his bullet injuries during treatment.
Meanwhile, Pintu Kumar alias Poison sustained a bullet injury to his thigh. He was shifted to a private hospital located near Saguna More in Danapur, where he is currently undergoing medical treatment under continuous observation by medical specialists.
Police Recover Spent Cartridges, Forensic Team Dispatched
Upon receiving word of the fatal shootout, a police team from Maner police station arrived at the crime scene and cordoned off the entire vicinity. During the initial inspection, officers recovered multiple empty bullet cartridges scattered across the courtyard. To collect crucial physical evidence, a specialized Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team was called to the location.
Forensic experts documented the crime scene and secured crucial samples, including bullet remnants and blood splatter, to aid scientific analysis. Concurrently, investigating officers have begun analyzing video footage from closed-circuit television cameras installed along key intersection routes to trace the trajectory and identity of the shooters.
Political Rivalry Suspected As Raids Intensify
Sub-Divisional Police Officer-2 of Danapur, Amrendra Kumar Jha, shared details regarding the ongoing probe, indicating that preliminary findings strongly point toward political rivalry as the primary motive behind the coordinated strike.
Amrendra Kumar Jha stated that investigators have obtained vital leads regarding the suspects involved in the shooting. Dedicated police teams are conducting continuous raids across several suspected hideouts to locate and apprehend all four motorcycle-borne criminals at the earliest.
