Robbers Shoot Passenger on Moving Train in Bihar After He Resists Loot

Armed robbers aboard the Amritsar-Narpatganj Jansadharan Express on the Mansi-Saharsa section in Bihar's Khagaria district shot a 37-year-old passenger who resisted their robbery attempt; he is now undergoing treatment.

A horrifying incident of robbery and shooting aboard a moving train has come to light on the Mansi-Saharsa rail section in Bihar's Khagaria district. The episode took place on the Amritsar-Narpatganj Jansadharan Express (14604). According to the information available, a group of armed criminals boarded the train near Badlaghat railway station in Khagaria district and were attempting to carry out a robbery. When one passenger resisted the loot, the criminals shot him right inside the moving train. The incident triggered panic and a stampede-like situation across the entire train. As soon as the information came in, the railway police force rushed to the spot and the injured passenger was immediately taken to a hospital. The police are currently investigating the whole matter.

Police Investigating the Case

The police shared the details of the incident on Friday. According to the police, the incident took place at around 8:30 pm on Thursday night, and the injured passenger has been identified as 37-year-old Dev Kumar Gunjan, a resident of Jharkhand. The police said Gunjan was travelling with his wife towards Supaul on the Amritsar-Narpatganj Jansadharan Express (14604). According to other passengers travelling on the same train, just before the train reached Badlaghat railway station, the armed robbers tried to snatch his belongings and valuables, and when he resisted, the criminals opened fire and fled from the spot.

Passenger Undergoing Treatment

The incident sparked chaos among the passengers on board the train. On receiving the information, a team of railway police reached Badlaghat railway station and the injured passenger was admitted to a nearby government hospital. He was later referred to Begusarai for better treatment. Speaking to the media, Mansi rail police station in-charge Ravi Kumar said they had received information about a passenger being shot on a moving train. He said, ''The injured passenger has been sent to Begusarai for better treatment. At present, the police are investigating the matter.''
