Amid all this, Rakul Preet Singh's casting as Shurpanakha has been a talking point of its own. The trailer is winning over audiences in Pakistan too
'Ramayana' released its trailer on July 30, giving audiences their first proper look at nearly the entire principal cast. Sunny Deol, however, was noticeably missing from the trailer, leaving several fans disappointed. At the same time, the trailer has drawn an enthusiastic response across the border in Pakistan, where viewers have particularly praised the entry scenes of Ranbir Kapoor and Yash. Pakistani YouTubers have also been generous in their praise for the Rs 4,000 crore project.
A two-part release, and the rest of the cast
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, 'Ramayana' is being made in two parts. The first part is scheduled to release around Diwali 2026, while the second part is expected to arrive around Diwali 2027. Ranbir Kapoor plays Lord Ram, while Sai Pallavi takes on the role of Mata Sita. Yash's portrayal of Ravana has already generated plenty of excitement among fans, and Arun Govil rounds out the principal cast as King Dasharath.
