The Central Board of Film Certification revising committee has granted clearance to the upcoming action drama Awarapan 2 starring Emraan Hashmi. To secure a U/A 16+ rating for theatrical release, the filmmakers had to implement several mandatory cuts and incorporate health disclaimers across multiple sensitive sequences.
Removal of Violent Sequences and Offensive Dialogue
As part of the modifications required by the certification panel, substantial cuts were executed on intense sequences throughout the film. Three exceptionally terrifying and violent scenes were cut entirely from the final edit. Additionally, a graphic action sequence featuring heavy violence in the second half of the movie was trimmed down to nearly half its original length. A scene depicting drug consumption was also excised completely. Beyond visual edits, the board mandated changes to the audio track and subtitles, resulting in the removal of several objectionable words to maintain compliance.
Inclusion of Health Warnings and Disclaimers
To address sensitive topics depicted in the narrative, the censor board directed the production team to display explicit warning labels. Consequently, scenes involving illicit drug usage and human trafficking will now feature visible on-screen disclaimers. Furthermore, statutory anti-smoking warning banners have been incorporated into all scenes where characters are shown smoking, ensuring full compliance with public health notification regulations.
Final Runtime and Official Certification Details
Following the completion of all requested edits, the censor certificate was officially issued on August 5. In total, approximately 4 minutes of footage was excised from the picture, while minor adjustments spanning around 20 seconds were carried out in select scenes. After these structural edits, the finalized runtime of Awarapan 2 stands at 2 hours, 20 minutes, and 20 seconds (totaling 140 minutes and 20 seconds).
Trailer Arrival and Global Theatrical Schedule
Building on the certification milestone, the official trailer for Awarapan 2 was unveiled on August 6. The film marks the return of Emraan Hashmi to his celebrated screen identity of Shivam Pandit, a character that gained widespread popularity in the original release. Joining him in prominent roles are Disha Patani and Shabana Azmi. Directed by Nitin Kakkar and produced by Vishesh Bhatt, the motion picture is scheduled for a global theatrical rollout on August 14, 2026.
