Nearly ₹25 crore on opening day
According to early estimates, 'Mirzapur: The Movie' collected ₹24.78 crore on its very first day. The Hindi version alone brought in ₹24.60 crore, while the Telugu version added around ₹15 lakh. These are early numbers and could see minor revisions once official figures are released, but the trend is unmistakable, audiences have embraced the film in large numbers.
'Saiyaara' and 'Aavarapan 2' left behind
Before release, trade watchers had wondered whether viewers who had already watched 'Mirzapur' on OTT would still pay for a theatre ticket. The roughly ₹25 crore opening answered that question emphatically. With this collection, the film overtook the opening day numbers of 'Saiyaara' (₹21.50 crore) and 'Aavarapan 2' (₹22 crore). Meanwhile, 'Hanuman Ansh', directed by Vishal Chaturvedi and based on Neem Karoli Baba, continues to hold its own at the box office in its fourth week. Interestingly, the film barely made an impact in its first two weeks after release, before suddenly picking up pace in its third week, catching everyone off guard. Even after the release of 'Mirzapur: The Movie', 'Hanuman Ansh' has seen no dip in its earnings, and the devotional drama remains firmly in business even on day 29.
On the doorstep of the ₹100 crore club
On its fifth Friday, or day 29, 'Hanuman Ansh' collected ₹10 crore, with theatre occupancy standing at 47 percent that day. This has taken the film's total collection in India to ₹82.88 crore, while its gross collection has reached ₹97.77 crore, putting it on the verge of entering the ₹100 crore club. What makes this even more remarkable is that Vishal Chaturvedi's film was made on a budget of just ₹2 crore, meaning its earnings so far are several times its cost.
