'Lootere' packed suspense and action into its plot
Directed by Dharmesh Darshan, 'Lootere' had a strong ensemble cast. Alongside Sunny Deol and Juhi Chawla, the film featured Naseeruddin Shah, Chunky Pandey, Anupam Kher and Pooja Bedi in key roles. The story is built around Anjali (Juhi Chawla), an innocent young woman who unwittingly becomes an eyewitness to a dangerous crime. That makes her a target for the city's ruthless underworld mafia. The responsibility of protecting Anjali falls on Karan (Sunny Deol), a fearless police officer, and over the course of the story, the two fall in love.

'Lootere' also did brisk business at the box office. Made on a limited budget of Rs 2.5 crore, the film, which balanced action, emotion and music, went on to collect close to Rs 10 crore in India. Songs like "Main Teri Rani Tu Raja Mera" and "Mujhe Ek Meetha Nasha Chadh Raha Hai" turned into chartbusters and helped 'Lootere' rank among the highest-grossing Hindi films of 1993.
