Following a remarkable run of creative acclaim and major industry honours, actor Yami Gautam and filmmaker Aditya Dhar are rearranging their daily lives away from the constant bustle of the film capital. Gautam recently secured a National Award for her performance in the feature film Article 370. Dhar has similarly enjoyed an exceptional stretch of professional momentum, highlighted by the massive theatrical earnings of his directorial venture Dhurandhar. On the heels of these milestones, the couple is now turning their attention toward setting up a quieter domestic base outside Mumbai.
Splitting Time Between Film Commitments and the Hills
The couple plans to establish their primary living space in Himachal Pradesh, stepping back from the relentless pace of metropolitan life. Rather than stepping away from cinema, the arrangement is structured around managing work commitments and domestic life separately. Both will travel to Mumbai whenever film productions and meetings demand their physical presence, while reserving their downtime, family routines, and personal space for the calmer surroundings of the northern hills.
A Century-Old Heritage Property in Mandi
Himachal Pradesh holds enduring personal significance for Gautam, serving as far more than an occasional retreat or vacation destination. The region connects directly to her upbringing, family lineage, and earliest memories. Well prior to her marriage, Gautam acquired a 100-year-old heritage property spread across roughly 25 acres in Gohar, situated within the Mandi district. That vintage home continues to hold immense sentimental value for her, and the wider family shares a deep emotional attachment to the land.
Low-Key Wedding and Guarded Privacy
The Mandi estate already marks a defining chapter in the couple's relationship, as it served as the venue for their intimate wedding ceremony. The pair married there during the coronavirus pandemic, deliberately avoiding lavish celebrations, high-profile guest lists, and industry glamour in favour of understated, private rituals. Both Dhar and Gautam have consistently kept their domestic life out of the public gaze. Gautam maintains a deliberately restrained footprint on social media platforms, having previously explained in an interview that she prefers not to broadcast private moments online or put personal affairs on display for the wider public.
