A high-level state cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Monday cleared the development of the state's maiden technology park at Gardanibagh in Patna. Official clearance was granted to execute a Memorandum of Understanding with NBCC (India) Limited to undertake the construction of this benchmark facility. As detailed in an official briefing by the state IT department, the selection of NBCC (India) Limited was carried out on a nomination basis in adherence to the Bihar Finance (Amendment) Rules, paving the way for the formal signing of the operational pact between the department and the enterprise.
Targeting Investment in IT, ITES, and ESDM Verticals
The proposed facility in Gardanibagh is designed to serve as the core anchor for the growth of Information Technology (IT) and Information Technology Enabled Services (ITES) across the capital city. Planners anticipate that the project will accelerate enterprise activity, bringing corporate and digital operations in Patna on par with major metropolitan commercial hubs. Alongside IT services, the park is structured to attract substantial capital inflows into Electronic System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM), expanding the industrial base beyond conventional enterprise sectors.
Projections for Corporate Entry and Local Job Creation
State authorities expect the initiative to derive strong operational momentum from the Bihar IT Policy 2024 and the Bihar Global Capability Centre (GCC) Policy 2026. Official estimates project that more than 100 commercial enterprises could set up presence within the park once it is operational. This influx of companies is forecast to create over 5,000 direct employment opportunities for local professionals. A primary objective behind establishing the facility is to offer competitive career avenues to skilled domestic talent within the home state, thereby curbing the continuous migration of educated youth seeking employment elsewhere.
Enhanced Financial Sanction for Darbhanga Logistics and Cargo Facility
In another key infrastructural decision, the cabinet sanctioned a revised administrative outlay of 225 crore rupees for acquiring 49.9973 acres of land near Darbhanga International Airport. The procurement will pave the way for building a full-scale logistics park and dedicated cargo hub. An initial sum of 138 crore rupees had previously been approved for the acquisition of 50 acres of land, but rising land compensation valuations necessitated the financial revision. Once completed, this multi-modal facility will facilitate the direct air freight transport of agricultural produce from Mithilanchal and northern districts to commercial markets across various states.
