Oil marketing companies have announced a significant reduction in the prices of commercial LPG cylinders on the first day of August. Under the revised tariff structure effective Saturday, the cost of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder has been slashed by up to ₹209 across major metros. While Kolkata witnessed the sharpest decline of ₹209 per cylinder, prices in national capital Delhi dropped by ₹202. However, prices for 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinders used in households have been kept entirely unchanged in this latest monthly cycle.
Revised Commercial LPG Cylinder Rates in Delhi and Kolkata
Following the rate revision announced on Saturday, a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder in Kolkata now costs ₹2,872.50 after a price cut of ₹209. In Delhi, the retail price of the same 19-kg commercial gas cylinder has decreased by ₹202. The new prices came into effect immediately on Saturday morning, providing instant financial relief to businesses relying on commercial fuel supplies.
Direct Operational Relief for Restaurants and Caterers
The substantial drop in commercial LPG cylinder rates is expected to significantly lower operating expenses for enterprises that depend on gas cylinders for daily cooking operations. Commercial establishments including restaurants, hotels, roadside food outlets, and catering services will see a reduction in their overall fuel bills. Lower energy costs help these food service businesses manage their daily overheads more efficiently.
Background of Commercial Fuel Price Adjustments in July
This price cut marks the second consecutive month of reduced commercial fuel costs. In July, oil marketing companies had lowered the retail price of 19-kg commercial LPG cylinders by ₹183.50. That previous reduction had brought the retail cost of a commercial cylinder in Delhi down to ₹2,930 starting July 1. Alongside that cut, fuel distributors had also reduced the cost of 5-kg Free Trade LPG (FTL) cylinders by ₹13 in July, setting its retail price in Delhi at ₹808.50.
Status of Household Domestic LPG and Previous June Price Revision
While commercial consumers enjoy reduced rates, prices for 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinders remain unchanged during this pricing cycle. Household cylinder prices were last revised in June, when oil marketing companies had increased the domestic gas cylinder rate by ₹29. That revision in June had raised the retail price of a 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder in Delhi from ₹913 to ₹942, a price level that continues to remain in force today.
