With the festive season of Diwali and Dhanteras drawing near, bullion hubs are witnessing a major surge in footfall and buying sentiment. Traditionally, purchasing gold and silver during this auspicious period is seen as both a cultural ritual for prosperity and a dependable avenue for long-term investment. This festive season, however, consumer appetite extends well beyond conventional purchases and religious rituals, as modern lifestyle choices and evolving jewellery tastes take center stage. Meerut, long celebrated as a prominent jewellery-crafting hub, continues to see its distinctive artisanal creations command robust demand across Indian states and international markets alike.
Contemporary Aesthetics Meet Tradition: Lightweight and Temple Motifs
Jewellers have aligned their festive showcases with the changing priorities of modern shoppers. Jewellery merchant Aadhar Manglik pointed out that women showed a strong preference for lightweight ornaments during the Karwa Chauth festivities. Building on that momentum, craftsmen have developed an extensive range of lightweight festive collections featuring intricate and attractive designs. Alongside these easy-to-wear pieces, temple jewellery featuring sacred figures has registered rising popularity among female buyers. Retail counters are prominently showcasing ornaments sculpted with depictions of Radha Krishna, Lord Ganesha, and Mata Rani. Furthermore, pieces featuring an artistic fusion with diamonds have captured substantial consumer interest.
Budget-Friendly Silver Collections and Festive Sentiment
For shoppers mindful of spending ceilings, silversmiths have introduced an array of meticulously designed silver jewellery that offers elegance without stretching household budgets. While precious metal prices often climb steeply during the Diwali rush, the prevailing market rates this season have provided buyers with a timely window to acquire ornaments. Bullion trader Aasre Manglik noted that the run-up to Dhanteras has brought lively footfall back into the marketplace. Customer enthusiasm is evenly distributed across gold and diamond categories, with craftsmen deliberately aligning their catalogue with the fashion preferences and daily wearability sought by contemporary women.
