Passengers planning rail journeys across northern India, particularly toward Jammu and Kashmir, need to take note of updated operating hours. Northern Railway has issued an official notification announcing revised schedules for 13 vital trains serving Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, Jammu Tawi, Shahid Captain Tushar Mahajan (Udhampur), and various stations in the Kashmir Valley. The affected services include long-distance superfast and express trains alongside regional MEMU and DMU services. While multiple revisions come into play in late September 2026, schedule adjustments for several major long-distance superfast services will become operational in November 2026.
Long-Distance Superfast Trains from Katra Rescheduled for November 2026
Travelers heading toward western India, including Maharashtra and Gujarat, will experience altered departure and intermediate arrival hours starting in late November. Train number 12472 Katra to Bandra Terminus Swaraj Express will function under its revised operational timetable starting 25 November 2026. Under the new arrangement, the train will pull into Shahid Captain Tushar Mahajan station at 10:02 AM and depart at 10:04 AM. It will subsequently reach Jammu Tawi at 11:20 AM and depart at 11:30 AM. Adjustments have also been registered for its halt timings at Kathua and Pathankot Cantt stations.
Similarly, train number 12474 Katra - Gandhidham Sarvodaya Express will implement its new schedule from 26 November 2026, touching Jammu Tawi at 11:20 AM. Train number 12476 Hapa Express will operate under modified timings starting 23 November 2026, while train number 12478 Jamnagar Express will follow its newly designated timetable beginning 29 November 2026.
September 2026 Adjustments for Express Trains from UP, Rajasthan and Punjab
For trains connecting Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Punjab to Jammu and Katra, schedule adjustments take effect earlier in autumn. Originating in eastern Uttar Pradesh, train number 14611 Ghazipur City - Katra Express will arrive at Jammu Tawi at 10:35 AM starting 25 September 2026, moving back from its earlier arrival timing of 10:20 AM, and will terminate at Katra at 1:00 PM (13:00 hrs).
Originating from Prayagraj, train number 22431 Subedarganj - Shahid Captain Tushar Mahajan Superfast Express will arrive at its destination at 12:55 PM starting 26 September 2026. Coming from Rajasthan, train number 19803 Kota - Katra Express will reach Katra at an updated time of 1:45 PM (13:45 hrs) starting 26 September 2026. Meanwhile, train number 14803 Bhagat Ki Kothi - Jammu Tawi Express will clock its arrival at Jammu Tawi at 06:40 AM starting 26 September 2026. In addition, train number 20985 Kota - MCTM Udhampur Superfast Express will arrive at Jammu Tawi at 10:35 AM and at Udhampur at 12:30 PM beginning 30 September 2026.
Timetable Overhaul for Local MEMU and DMU Trains in Kashmir Valley
To better accommodate regional commuter patterns and address operational requirements, Northern Railway has updated running hours for internal passenger trains within the Kashmir Valley starting 25 September 2026. Train number 64651 Sangaldan - Baramulla MEMU will record its arrival in Baramulla at 7:00 PM (19:00 hrs). Similarly, train number 74617 Banihal - Badgam DMU is set to reach Badgam at 7:00 PM (19:00 hrs).
For intermediate valley connectivity, train number 74621 Badgam - Baramulla DMU will leave Badgam at 7:15 PM (19:15 hrs), stopping along the corridor at Mazhom at 7:29 PM (19:29 hrs), Pattan at 7:38 PM (19:38 hrs), Hamre at 7:47 PM (19:47 hrs), and Sopore at 7:55 PM (19:55 hrs), before reaching Baramulla at 8:10 PM (20:10 hrs). Train number 74620 Baramulla - Sangaldan DMU will reach Sangaldan at 7:20 PM (19:20 hrs).
