To facilitate smooth commuting for information technology professionals working late shifts, industrial workers, and general passengers in the capital of Telangana, the Telangana State Road Conservation Corporation has rolled out a special night bus service. Initiated on August 29, this transport facility operates daily from 10:00 PM to 5:00 exorbitant morning across six prominent and high-traffic corridors of the city.
Financial relief for late-night commuters
Thousands of employees working in business process outsourcing firms, IT hubs, hotels, and the hospitality sector in Hyderabad return home late at night. Once regular metro and standard bus services ceased operation, passengers were previously compelled to rely on expensive cabs or auto-rickshaws. With this new initiative by the state transport corporation, travelers now have access to safe, accessible, and economical travel options even during late hours.
Operations running across six major routes
The transport corporation is operating these night buses along six of the city's most critical corridors, ensuring robust connectivity across various localities.
Route 10H connects Secunderabad to HITEC City and Kondapur. Operating along this major technology corridor during the night, eight to ten buses are deployed at intervals ranging from 30 minutes to one hour.
Route 290U runs between Secunderabad and Hayathnagar. The starting point for this route has been revised, and the bus now departs from Alpha Hotel located right opposite Secunderabad Railway Station instead of Sangeet Crossroads, significantly benefiting passengers heading toward LB Nagar and Vanasthalipuram.
The Koti to Patancheru route offers continuous service throughout the night at hourly intervals along this exceptionally busy thoroughfare.
Route 222A operates from Koti to Patancheru via HITEC City, providing service to commuters every 30 to 60 minutes.
Route 219 connects Secunderabad and Patancheru, operating regular trips to bridge industrial zones and residential neighborhoods.
Route 195W serves Bachupally and surrounding areas, simplifying daily transit for employees and hospitality staff residing in that locality.
Expansion planned based on passenger volume
According to the Greater Hyderabad administration of the transport body, approximately eight buses have been deployed on each route initially. The corporation is currently monitoring passenger numbers and travel demand continuously across various corridors so that trip frequencies can be increased and new routes can be added in the coming days as required.
