A nursing student was stabbed to death in broad daylight in Bhilai, with the attacker fleeing the scene before police could arrive. The victim has been identified as Khushi Sahu, 19, a B-Pharmacy student at Shankaracharya Nursing College who had moved to Bhilai only about a month earlier. Police have since identified the man they believe carried out the attack and are actively searching for him.
Found bleeding on the floor of her room
The attack took place while Khushi's friend had stepped out to bathe. A young man entered the room during that window and stabbed Khushi seven to eight times in quick succession, leaving her critically injured. He fled the spot immediately after the assault. When her friend returned from bathing, she found Khushi lying on the floor of the room, soaked in blood. She immediately alerted the landlord, who in turn informed the police. Khushi was rushed to hospital, but doctors declared her dead on arrival. Police reached the scene soon after and carried out a detailed examination of the spot.
Khushi belonged to Bemetara district, worked at a café to fund her studies
Khushi Sahu hailed from Kumhi village in the Berla area of Bemetara district. To cover her education expenses, she also worked at a café in Vaishali Nagar. Just five days before the murder, another friend of hers had arrived in Bhilai from their village and had begun staying with her in the same room.
Accused knew the victim, police suspect a prior relationship
Details of an alleged boyfriend of Khushi have also emerged as the investigation progresses. Police, acting on suspicion, have identified a young man and are now searching intensively for him. Durg ASP Sukhnandan Rathore said the accused and the victim already knew each other and had been in a relationship. He said the two had a falling out over some issue, after which the accused, acting in anger, carried out the attack. However, police have clarified that it cannot yet be confirmed with certainty whether this is a case linked to a romantic relationship. The investigation is ongoing, and police have formed separate teams to track down and arrest the accused.
