Acting on recommendations from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), the district collector has suspended land sales, ownership transfers, and fresh construction activities along a 21-kilometer corridor covering nine designated villages.
Targeting Speculative Practices and Land Syndicate Frauds
According to official directives, the announcement of large-scale infrastructure corridors frequently triggers speculative land buying by brokers and property syndicates. These intermediaries often acquire agricultural parcels, fragment them into smaller plots, and alter their land-use designations to artificially inflate government compensation claims. Such speculative manipulation escalates land acquisition overheads and imposes severe financial drains on the public exchequer.
Furthermore, these practices often marginalize genuine landowners who miss out on fair valuation while middlemen siphon off illegitimate profits. To protect public funds and safeguard the rights of original titleholders, the district administration enacted the restrictions following an official communication dispatched by the NHAI on August 31, 2026.
List of Affected Villages and Transaction Restrictions
The prohibition applies to land plots located across nine villages: Sendri, Ramtala, Birkona 01, Birkona 02, Nagoi, Bijaur, Mopka, Domuhani, and Dhenka. Administrative officials confirmed that until the formal land acquisition procedure is concluded, property registrations, title transfers, land partition, and land-use conversions remain strictly prohibited. Additionally, property owners and developers are barred from commencing any new structural construction within the identified zone.
