A groom and his family allegedly fabricated an upscale profile to secure an alliance with a local woman. The entire deception began to unravel on the wedding night itself, leaving the bride and her family devastated. Following a formal complaint, the police have registered a criminal case against the husband, identified as Harshdeep, along with his mother and father.
The Elaborate Web of False Credentials
The matrimonial bio-data presented by the groom's family was so impressive that the bride's family accepted the proposal without deep verification. It was claimed that Harshdeep had completed his B.Tech degree from the prestigious BITS Pilani and was working for a reputed firm in Jaipur with a highly lucrative annual package of Rs 48 lakh. Additionally, the bio-data stated that his father ran a business with an annual turnover of Rs 88 lakh and that the family owned around 150 to 200 acres of land. Relying entirely on these glittering claims, the woman's family agreed to the match, and the wedding was solemnized on March 12, 2026, at the Hotel Patrician in Bilaspur.
Signs of Trouble on the Wedding Night
The illusion of wealth and stature began to crumble almost immediately after the wedding rituals were completed. On the wedding night, the service providers responsible for the tent decorations and catering services approached the bride's family, complaining that they had not received their payments. To avoid embarrassment, the bride’s side had to settle the outstanding dues themselves. The next morning, as the couple prepared to leave the hotel, the hotel staff stopped the groom's car due to unpaid accommodation bills. Soon after this incident, both Harshdeep and his father switched off their mobile phones, escalating the bride's suspicion.
The Reality of Emu Oil Business and Fake Jewelry
Upon being confronted by the bride regarding these irregularities, Harshdeep's claims of being a highly paid corporate professional collapsed. It was revealed that he had no corporate job and instead operated a business dealing in emu bird oil alongside his father. Furthermore, when the jewelry gifted to the bride by her in-laws was taken for verification, it turned out to be completely counterfeit. The bride also alleged that prior to the wedding ceremonies, Harshdeep had extracted Rs 6,76,000 from her under various pretexts, claiming urgent financial requirements. Bilaspur police have initiated a detailed probe into the matter after booking the accused family.
