A shocking case of medical apathy and severe administrative negligence has emerged from the Revatpur Primary Health Centre in the Balrampur district of Chhattisgarh. A pregnant woman enduring intense labor pain was left stranded outside the hospital building because both the main hospital premises and the staff quarters were locked shut. Distressed by the situation, the family members recorded a video of the entire ordeal and shared it widely on social media. The circulation of this footage immediately triggered panic and urgency within the local health department and administration.
Brought by Mahtari Express
The viral video clearly captures the pregnant woman, who was transported to the medical facility via the Mahtari Express for delivery, writhing in pain on the ground outside the hospital compound. The family members alleged that no medical staff or personnel were present on the premises, and the primary entrance was firmly bolted. Furthermore, the residential rooms designated for the on-duty staff were also found locked. This public exposure of the incident has raised serious questions regarding the efficiency and reliability of the district's healthcare infrastructure, prompting swift administrative action.
Health Department Orders Inquiry
As the video gained traction online, the local health authorities sprang into action to address the backlash. Chief Medical and Health Officer Vijay Singh stated that the matter is being treated with utmost seriousness and gravity. A dedicated inquiry team has been formed under the direct supervision of the Block Medical Officer to look into the lapses. The CMHO assured that once the investigation report is submitted, strict disciplinary measures will be enforced against any employee found guilty of dereliction of duty.
Questions Over Emergency Services
This alarming incident has sparked widespread debate over the actual purpose and availability of emergency medical services in public healthcare units when staff members are entirely absent during critical hours. Locals and family members point out that if a critically ill or emergency patient arrives under such circumstances and fails to receive timely intervention, it could lead to fatal consequences. Such glaring oversights undermine public trust in rural healthcare delivery systems and demand immediate systemic correction.
