A severe legal crisis has enveloped a Western Railway employee stationed in Ahmedabad following explosive allegations of large-scale corruption. The Enforcement Directorate has significantly intensified its crackdown on Prashant Rabari, filing a formal prosecution complaint against the accused before a special court in Ahmedabad. This major judicial step clears the path for rigorous further legal proceedings in the ongoing corruption and money laundering probe.
CBI Investigation Sparked the Probe
The genesis of this entire financial scandal traces back to an initial First Information Report registered by the Central Bureau of Investigation. The federal investigative agency had booked Prashant Rabari in Gandhinagar under the stringent provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act. Using this foundational FIR as a springboard, the Enforcement Directorate launched a parallel investigation focusing on potential money laundering angles. As investigators sifted through financial records and asset documents during the inquiry, multiple critical details regarding the accused individual's actual earnings and accumulated wealth came to light.
Massive Asset Accumulation in Four Years
According to the detailed findings compiled by the Enforcement Directorate, Prashant Rabari managed to amass movable and immovable assets worth approximately Rs 2 crore 58 lakh over a brief span of roughly four years while actively employed with Western Railway. The federal agency explicitly alleges that this massive accumulation of wealth was directly generated through corrupt practices and unlawful activities. The ongoing probe further exposed that the accused did not restrict property acquisitions to his own name alone, but systematically purchased valuable assets in the name of his wife as well.
Provisional Attachment Followed by Court Action
Following the formal identification of properties tied directly to illicit earnings, the financial investigation agency executed swift punitive measures. The authority issued an official order to provisionally attach immovable assets valued at roughly Rs 2 crore 44 thousand 981, temporarily freezing these holdings. Building upon these preliminary actions, the Enforcement Directorate has now submitted an official complaint against the accused at the special PMLA court located in Bhadra, Ahmedabad. Legal proceedings will now proceed aggressively under the framework of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
