A high-tech interstate syndicate running an illicit overseas call centre from an apartment in Bindayaka has been neutralized by the cyber crime unit in Jaipur. In an operation spearheaded by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Jaipur West) Prashant Kiran and Cyber Crime Unit Deputy Superintendent of Police Aditya Poonia, law enforcement personnel detained 14 individuals. Operating from within Rajasthan, the syndicate targeted residents of the United States, extracting significant sums through deceptive customer service practices using seized electronic hardware.
Operation Concealed Inside a Residential Complex
The fraudulent operation was set up in a rented flat situated inside the Manglam- The Grand Residency complex in the Bindayaka area. The setup maintained an inconspicuous profile within the residential community, allowing the gang to execute cross-border operations without drawing suspicion from neighbours. Inside the residence, the conspirators deployed desktop computing setups, laptops, and mobile communication equipment to contact prospective targets overseas. The full scale of the operation only came to light when police teams executed the raid on the premises.
Impersonation of Apple and Bogus Service Levies
Initial findings by investigators reveal that the syndicate exploited the corporate identity and trust associated with tech firm Apple. Members of the syndicate transmitted tailored electronic notices to targets across the United States concerning brand products and consumer services. After initiating contact, the callers worked to convince targets that unpaid pre-approved charges or specific service costs were registered against their names.
To settle these fabricated claims, callers pressed victims to remit amounts ranging from 399 US dollars and 499 US dollars up to 699 US dollars. The gang handled interactions through simulated helpdesk scripts designed to lead US residents into believing they were consulting official company support channels. Authorities suspect the accumulated fraud runs into millions of rupees, though the full financial assessment and final victim registry remain subject to formal verification.
Interstate Links and Syndicate Blueprint
A background review of the 14 detained suspects uncovered an interstate operating structure. Out of the 14 individuals taken into custody, 12 hail from states outside Rajasthan, while 2 suspects are residents of Rajasthan. Department officials stated that an individual identified as Hiren, a resident of Gujarat, has surfaced as the mastermind coordinating the enterprise.
Investigators are working to locate Hiren and establish the operational chain between him and the operatives in Jaipur. Inquiries are focused on how the syndicate procured specialised tech infrastructure and obtained personal contact records of US residents. Tracking the source of this foreign consumer data remains a core objective of the investigation.
Seizure of Hardware and Scrutiny of Property Owner
During the search of the Bindayaka apartment, authorities confiscated 24 mobile handsets, 13 laptops, and a collection of associated peripheral electronics. These hardware items have been secured for forensic extraction to trace client registries, calling histories, transaction logs, and internal messaging between operators.
Simultaneously, police have initiated questioning of the landlord of the apartment at Manglam- The Grand Residency. The inquiry examines whether legal tenant verification procedures were executed before handing over the keys, and what identification documents or stated lines of business the tenants supplied to the property owner prior to occupying the flat.
Tracing the Financial Trail and Ongoing Probe
According to DCP Jaipur West Prashant Kiran and Cyber Crime DSP Aditya Poonia, intensive interrogation of all 14 suspects is underway alongside technical audits. The investigative teams are reconstructing the syndicate's timeline to determine precisely when the illicit centre started operations and how many victims were successfully coerced.
A critical focus rests on the financial pathways used to channel the US dollar proceeds into domestic accounts in India. Officials are examining the transaction rails, virtual accounts, and potential intermediaries that facilitated the cross-border fund transfers. Police confirmed that findings from the digital evidence and suspect questioning could lead to further arrests across the network in the coming days.
