A shocking murder stemming from a personal dispute over a relationship has come to light in the Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh. Infuriated by a man who assisted in arranging his ex-girlfriend's marriage to another individual, the accused shot the mediator dead inside a hotel room and subsequently dumped the victim's bedsheet-wrapped body into the Ganga Canal to conceal the crime. The revelation of the incident has created widespread panic in the area, while the family members of the deceased are demanding strict legal action and justice.
Enmity Arising from Ex-Girlfriend's Marriage
Police investigations revealed that the entire tragedy was triggered by bitter resentment linked to a past relationship. The deceased victim has been identified as Sarwar. The accused shooter, Rahul, previously had a relationship with a woman. Sarwar had later facilitated the woman's marriage to another man. Enraged by Sarwar's involvement in enabling her marriage elsewhere, Rahul harbored a deep personal grudge against him and sought an opportunity to strike back.
Shooting at Hotel Room and Disposal of Body
Elaborating on the incident, Meerut SP Rural Abhijit Kumar stated that the crime took place on August 23. Rahul took Sarwar to a hotel located near Garh Chaupala. Once inside the hotel room, Rahul fired a bullet at Sarwar using a pistol, killing him instantly on the spot. Following the murder, the assailant attempted to erase all traces of the crime by wrapping Sarwar's body in a bedsheet and carrying it away to be thrown into the Ganga Canal.
Involvement of Hotel Owner and Manager in Cover-Up
The investigation also brought to light serious criminal negligence and complicity on the part of the hotel management. According to law enforcement officials, after the shooting occurred inside the room, hotel owner Robin and manager Omendra actively participated in covering up the crime instead of immediately alerting the police. The duo allegedly washed and cleaned the bloodstains from the hotel room, attempting to destroy physical evidence and withholding information from the authorities.
Arrest of Three Accused and Recovery of Weapons
Taking prompt action, the police cracked the murder case on Wednesday and placed all three suspects under arrest. The primary accused shooter Rahul, along with hotel owner Robin and manager Omendra, were taken into custody. SP Rural Abhijit Kumar confirmed that officers seized an illegal country-made pistol, live cartridges, a mobile phone, and the motorcycle utilized during the commission of the offense from Rahul's possession. Legal proceedings against the arrested individuals are currently underway.
