A shocking crime has come to light in Bahlimpura village, located under the Nagar Kotwali police station area of Bulandshahr district in Uttar Pradesh. A woman named Preeti allegedly strangled her husband, Krishna Kumar, to death using a towel after he objected to her extramarital affair. Following the murder, the accused wife attempted to hurriedly perform his final rites before relatives could arrive at the scene. However, relatives grew suspicious upon noticing distinct marks around the victim's neck and promptly alerted the police. After the post-mortem examination officially confirmed death by strangulation, the police arrested Preeti and initiated legal proceedings.
Extramarital Affair and Plot to Sell Property
According to allegations made by the victim's family and findings from the preliminary investigation, the murder stemmed from an extramarital affair and an ongoing property dispute. Family members alleged that Preeti was planning to flee with her lover and was attempting to liquidate the family assets. Reports indicate that a plot of land was sold for ₹35 lakh a few months prior. Additionally, disputes had arisen over property comprising three bighas of land, a residential house, and another plot. The conflict escalated significantly when Krishna Kumar firmly opposed his wife's illicit relationship and her intentions to sell their property.
Suspicious Funeral Attempt and Police Intervention
At the time of the incident, only the couple and their 8-year-old daughter were present inside the house. Allegations state that during an argument, Preeti assaulted Krishna Kumar before strangling him using a towel. Shortly after committing the crime, she began preparing for the last rites without informing extended family members. However, when relatives arrived at the house, they spotted visible injury marks on Krishna Kumar's neck and immediately dialed emergency number 112 to inform the authorities.
Upon receiving the emergency notification, a police team arrived at the site, inspected the scene, and sent the body for a post-mortem examination. The victim's elderly mother, Angoori Devi, submitted a written complaint at the Nagar Kotwali police station, accusing her daughter-in-law of physically assaulting and strangling her son. Based on this complaint, police registered a case under relevant murder charges.
CO City Prakhar Pandey Explains Police Action
Providing official details regarding the investigation, Circle Officer (CO) City Prakhar Pandey confirmed that police responded swiftly after being alerted via Dial-112. He stated that the police inspected the crime scene and dispatched the body for autopsy. Following the post-mortem report confirming strangulation and based on the formal complaint lodged by the family, police arrested the accused wife, Preeti. Legal formalities are being completed to place her in judicial custody.
Krishna Kumar was the only son of his family. His sudden and tragic death has left his elderly mother, Angoori Devi, devastated, while a pall of gloom has descended over the entire village of Bahlimpura.
