Security arrangements are being rapidly scaled up across the national capital ahead of an unapproved demonstration scheduled for Saturday. Delhi Police has formally recommended that the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation shut down operations across 57 stations starting tonight to prevent large-scale crowd movement and preserve public order. DMRC is actively reviewing the advisory to finalise operational curbs across its network.
Police Deny Permission for Jantar Mantar Demonstration
The administrative alert follows a demonstration call by Cockroach Janata Party scheduled for Saturday, 10 October, at Jantar Mantar. Law enforcement authorities confirmed that the outfit submitted its demonstration notice on very short notice, prompting officials to reject the permit request. Police officials have issued a stern warning that any breach of protocols or defiance of restrictions will invite strict legal measures against the organisers and participants.
Commuters Face Potential Travel Disruptions
Should the transit operator formally adopt the security directive, station gates across sensitive sections and Central Delhi could be shut down as early as 9 PM on Friday night. The potential closure of 57 stations is aimed at managing crowd density, while security personnel are deployed around critical transit nodes to ensure routine public movement remains uncompromised.
