Reports indicate that the banquet hall is owned by Surendra De, while Azad Chaudhary has been operating it on a lease for the past 7 years. Earlier that afternoon, at approximately 2:00 PM, Vicky Dedha and Gaurav arrived at the site with their associates in an attempt to forcefully take over the property. They had even placed a lock on the hall, which led Azad Chaudhary to summon the police to resolve the matter. Both parties were brought to the police station for mediation. However, once the situation appeared to have settled, the same group returned at 6:00 PM in multiple vehicles and initiated the firing.
