Late on Thursday night, a tense situation erupted in the Govindpuri area of south-east Delhi as two rival factions clashed violently. The confrontation quickly escalated into firing and a stabbing rampage, leaving three individuals with serious injuries. Based on initial findings, local law enforcement suspects that a long-standing personal enmity could be the primary motive behind the attack. One of the victims sustained a gunshot wound, while another was wounded by a bladed weapon. Investigators recovered two empty cartridges and two knives from the spot as legal proceedings got underway.
Police Probe Points Toward Old Enmity
According to senior police officials, the confrontation in south-east Delhi broke out around 1:00 AM on Thursday night. During the flare-up between the two groups, firearms were discharged and knives were used indiscriminately. A PCR call was promptly routed to the police station regarding the sounds of gunfire. Authorities believe that past animosity between the opposing groups triggered the sudden outbreak of violence, and the angle is being thoroughly probed.
Details of the Injured Victims
The three victims injured in the melee have been identified as Sanju Bheshdhari alias Kumar Bheshdhari, Mansoor Alam, and Nitin. Sanju suffered a gunshot injury and was rushed to the Apollo Hospital located in Sarita Vihar for treatment. Meanwhile, Nitin was taken to the AIIMS Trauma Center where medical care is ongoing. Mansoor Alam sustained minor injuries and was discharged from the hospital following initial medical attention.
Recovery of Evidence and Ongoing Manhunt
Law enforcement teams combed the crime scene and recovered two empty bullet shells along with two knives. Officials confirmed that strict legal action has been initiated and efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the culprits. Police personnel are also thoroughly scanning closed-circuit television footage installed in the surrounding lanes to map out the sequence of events and pinpoint the attackers.
Mother Recounts the Moments Before the Attack
Suman, the mother of injured victim Nitin, shared that her son was peacefully eating his meal at home when he suddenly got up and headed out. When she asked where he was going, Nitin assured her that he would return shortly. Suman stated that shortly afterward, neighbors informed her that her son had been stabbed and shot. Initially, she dismissed it as a rumor or a joke, but soon discovered the grave reality that Nitin was indeed injured and had been rushed to a hospital via an auto-rickshaw by an unknown person.
Clash Coincides with Idol Immersion
Suman further explained that large crowds had gathered in the locality for idol immersion festivities connected to an ongoing local celebration. She mentioned that she has not yet been able to see her hospitalized son. She has two sons, with Nitin being the elder one, who is employed in the private sector and is currently admitted to the ICU. The family remains unaware of the exact circumstances that led to his injuries. Police stated that comprehensive investigations into the matter are actively progressing.
