Next, use a dry microfiber cloth to wipe away loose dust and surface debris from the plastic casing. Often, this simple step alone makes the board look considerably cleaner. Always ensure that moisture never enters the switch mechanism or internal electrical components during the cleaning process.
Using Dishwashing Liquid For Sticky Grime
If the board has stubborn oily residue or sticky grime that dry dusting cannot remove, mix a very small amount of dishwashing liquid in water. Dampen a cloth with this solution, wring it out thoroughly until it is barely moist, and gently wipe the surface. Immediately follow this by wiping the area dry with a clean, dry cloth to prevent any liquid seepage.
Baking Soda Paste For Tough Stains
For stubborn discoloration that resists basic wiping, create a thick paste using baking soda and a minimal amount of water. Rather than applying the paste directly onto the electrical panel, dab a small quantity onto a soft cloth or a soft-bristled brush and gently scrub the outer surface. Clean away the residue afterwards using a dry cloth.
White Vinegar With Caution
White vinegar helps dissolve surface stains and greasy buildup effectively when used correctly. Dilute the vinegar with water, moisten a cloth with the mixture, and gently wipe down the panel. Never apply undrated vinegar directly onto a switchboard, as excess liquid seeping into electrical components can cause serious damage.
Handle Stubborn Marks With Patience
When dealing with old, deep-set stains, avoid scrubbing aggressively or using excessive force; instead, clean the area gently over multiple attempts if necessary. Never attempt to scrape off marks with a knife or any sharp metallic object, as this can easily scratch and ruin the plastic surface of the board.
