You do not always need a salon visit to get that sought-after honey-toned glow on your face, and a home face pack made with kitchen staples can do the job. According to Kavita, the process starts with a small amount of honey, which naturally cleanses the skin and helps bring out a radiant look.
What goes into the golden glow pack
Turmeric is mixed in next. It carries natural anti-bacterial properties, and it is turmeric that is actually responsible for the golden tint the pack is known for. Raw milk is then added, since it nourishes the skin, and the lactic acid it contains helps even out skin tone. Anyone with oily skin can also stir in some multani mitti and rose water to balance the mix.
Always patch test before applying
Once all the ingredients are combined, the paste should never be applied straight to the face. Kavita recommends doing a patch test behind the ear first, leaving it on for about 10 minutes before wiping it off. Only if there is no irritation, itching or allergic reaction should the paste be used on the face.
How long to leave it on and how to rinse it off
The paste needs to stay on the face for at least 15 to 20 minutes before being washed off with cold water. A good moisturizer should follow immediately, and sunscreen should be applied a little while after that. Kavita stresses that neither of these two steps should ever be skipped, or the skin can end up dry. The pack can be used two to three times a week.
Benefits and precautions
This pack usually causes no side effects, and its biggest advantage is that it can deliver a golden glow without a single trip to the parlour. With regular use, skin tone gradually becomes clearer, the complexion looks brighter, and dark spots and blemishes start to fade. The same paste can also be used on the neck and throat if needed. After applying it, massage gently with light hands, let it dry, and then rinse off with cold water.
