An unusual administrative directive at Swami Atmanand Hindi and English Medium School in Khairagarh, Chhattisgarh, has drawn widespread attention after Principal Kamleshwar Singh delegated his official post to six lecturers on a daily rotation. On 24 July 2026, the principal issued a formal notification appointing one lecturer for each weekday to act as the in-charge principal during the first shift of the English medium school. Copies of the official order were also submitted to senior district officials, including the Collector, the District Education Officer, and the Block Education Officer.
Weekly Schedule and Appointed Responsibilities
According to the directive released by Principal Kamleshwar Singh, six Hindi medium lecturers were assigned specific weekdays to oversee school operations. Kunal Tandon was given responsibility for Monday, followed by Girvar Kosare on Tuesday, Vinita Singh on Wednesday, Upma Devi Tripathi on Thursday, Gunjan Singh on Friday, and Akhilesh Srivastava on Saturday. The designated in-charge lecturers were instructed to manage key administrative and academic tasks during their assigned days, which included monitoring the attendance of contractual teachers, supervising classroom instruction, and maintaining discipline among students across the campus.
District Education Department Intervention
The administrative arrangement prompted immediate action from District Education Officer Mukul KP Saav once it was brought to his notice. DEO Saav contacted Principal Kamleshwar Singh directly over the phone to explain that the decision violated department protocol. He clarified that as long as a permanent principal is active in office, another staff member cannot be designated as an in-charge principal. He further noted that the department does not recognize any concept of a deputy in-charge principal. While a principal may assign specific teachers to monitor classroom instruction, conferring the title or role of in-charge principal is unauthorized. Following this intervention, official instructions were given to revoke the order immediately, leading to its cancellation.
Unanswered Administrative Questions and Lack of Consultation
Alok Shrivas, Chairman of the School Development Committee, stated that he was not informed about the order beforehand and that the principal had not consulted him prior to its issuance. The incident has raised major questions regarding the circumstances that prompted Principal Kamleshwar Singh to divide his administrative responsibilities among six teachers. Additionally, concerns have been raised about how such an order was issued without obtaining approval from higher educational authorities. Principal Kamleshwar Singh has not issued any public statement regarding the matter, leaving it uncertain whether departmental disciplinary action will be initiated or if revoking the order resolves the issue.
