Hisense has slotted a new television into the middle of its 2026 lineup, and it comes with a display technology that only reached the mainstream market this year. The Hisense UR8SG positions itself between the higher-end Hisense UR9SG and the more basic Hisense U7SG, and it is the cheapest way to get Hisense's RGB Mini LED backlighting in a TV right now.
What RGB Mini LED actually changes
Standard Mini LED TVs use white LED backlights, but the UR8SG's RGB Mini LED panel is built to expand color volume beyond what those older backlights can produce. Hisense has paired this display with a new coating it calls Obsidian, engineered to cut down reflections in bright rooms while keeping blacks deeper than what typical glossy screen coatings allow. Reviews of this newer class of RGB Mini LED TVs have generally found that, in bright and colorful scenes, the technology comes close to matching OLED-level color performance, even though standard Mini LED sets can still hold an edge in certain areas such as viewing angles.
Built for gaming and streaming
The UR8SG comes with four HDMI 2.1 ports, each capable of running games at up to 4k at 180Hz or 1080p at 330Hz. It also supports VRR (Variable Refresh Rate), which reduces screen tearing during fast-paced gameplay. For its smart TV experience, the set runs Google TV 14, giving owners access to a wide library of streaming and app options straight out of the box.
Pricing and available sizes
Hisense's RGB Mini LED TVs, including the UR8SG, have started hitting store shelves at prices from around $1,300, according to reports, undercutting many rival RGB and premium Mini LED models. The UR8SG itself is offered in five screen sizes: 55, 65, 75, 85, and 100 inches, giving buyers room to pick a size that fits their budget and their living room.
