A critical road passing through Sahupura village in the Faridabad district of Haryana has remained in a severely damaged condition for a prolonged period. The tarmac has eroded extensively, leaving behind vast potholes along multiple stretches. According to local residents, this route serves as an indispensable transit corridor connecting approximately 20 villages, while also handling regular traffic travelling towards Palwal. Deep craters and standing water cause everyday misery for motorists and pedestrians alike. Dharamwati, a resident of Sahupura, stated that the road is fractured at multiple locations, creating severe commuting hurdles for villagers who have endured the situation for months. She pointed out that immediate road repair is crucial, as rainfall makes the ground impassable and completely brings ordinary pedestrian movement to a halt.
Years Of Neglect Leave Stretches Hazardous In Rain And Darkness
Savita, another Sahupura local, pointed out that the road has remained broken for the past two to three years. The prolonged disrepair poses a non-stop hazard, especially during rainy spells when rainwater submerges the depressions, concealing their actual depth and triggering frequent mishaps. Community members have repeatedly urged local authorities to rebuild the route promptly so that commuters receive lasting relief. Resident Wasim Ali explained that the passage has been dilapidated for several years. Mud accumulates rapidly whenever it rains, completely hiding the potholes beneath. Compounding the issue is the lack of proper street illumination along the stretch. In the dark, drivers cannot spot the sudden dips in the surface, causing vehicle tyres to plunge straight into deep trenches without warning.
Crucial Link For Palwal Travellers Faces Prolonged Civic Apathy
Highlighting the broader regional importance of the corridor, Rajwati stated that this road is not just an internal link for Sahupura, but an essential thoroughfare for numerous neighbouring rural settlements. Commuters moving in the direction of Palwal rely heavily on this passage every single day. Daily office-goers, students, and farmers face constant disruptions due to the broken surface, with monsoons multiplying their troubles many times over. Anil Kumar noted that the road has languished in this decrepit state for four to five years. During downpours, water accumulates across the width of the carriageway, and in the pitch dark, pedestrians frequently misjudge the edges and tumble straight into the roadside drain. He reiterated that systematic repairs are urgently needed to prevent further injuries.
Blowing Dust And Stagnation Batter Village Shopkeepers
The persistent civic crisis has also hit roadside commerce and residential sanitation hard. Priya highlighted that alongside broken asphalt, the accumulation of refuse and stagnant wastewater has created unhygienic conditions. With deep ruts and muck sitting right outside storefronts, shopkeepers find it nearly impossible to sit outside their premises. The continual flow of vehicular traffic kicks up thick plumes of dust and sand throughout the day, which keeps customers away and causes daily sales to plunge. The airborne dust also creates respiratory unease for nearby households. In response to these escalating issues, Sahupura villagers have collectively called upon the responsible civic department to reconstruct the main village road without delay, while also putting in place effective sanitation and water drainage mechanisms.
