A devastating road accident claimed the lives of a woman and her four-year-old grandson on Friday morning in Haryana's Bhiwani district. The tragic crash took place on National Highway 709 when a car carrying five members of a family, returning from a religious visit to Narhar Pir, collided head-on with an oncoming truck near Pohkarwas village. The impact of the collision crushed the front portion of the car, instantly leaving all five occupants critically injured before local residents and emergency personnel rushed to their assistance.
Family Was Returning Home to Mandhana Village
According to police officials, the victims belonged to Mandhana village located in Bhiwani district. The family had travelled to the shrine of Narhar Pir on Thursday to offer prayers. Having completed their visit, they started their journey back home early on Friday morning in their car. As the vehicle crossed the Jui area and neared Pohkarwas village along NH-709, an oncoming truck travelling from the opposite direction struck their car with immense force. The loud crash drew the immediate attention of villagers and commuters nearby, who rushed to the mangled wreckage and alerted local police authorities.
Severe Vehicle Damage and Emergency Rescue
The severity of the collision completely destroyed the car, trapping the passengers inside the twisted metal frame. The occupants of the car were identified as 58-year-old Sulochna, her four-year-old grandson Aarav, 35-year-old Anjali, Rashmi, and approximately 40-year-old Karmbir. Every person inside sustained grievous bodily trauma. A police rescue team quickly reached the accident site, extracted the trapped occupants from the vehicle with help from local bystanders, and transported all five injured individuals directly to the Civil Hospital in Bhiwani for emergency medical intervention.
Two Declared Dead on Arrival at Hospital
Upon arrival at the Civil Hospital, examining physicians pronounced both 58-year-old Sulochna and four-year-old Aarav dead. Medical staff noted that the victims succumbed to catastrophic trauma sustained during the impact. Meanwhile, Anjali, Karmbir, and Rashmi were admitted with critical injuries and are currently undergoing intensive medical treatment under the care of specialized hospital staff. Police officers initiated the required legal procedures, including post-mortem paperwork and official inquest proceedings, while news of the tragedy plunged Mandhana village and relatives into deep mourning.
Temporary Traffic Snarl Cleared by Police
The catastrophic crash resulted in immediate traffic congestion on NH-709, as both the damaged truck and the wrecked car occupied the roadway, obstructing vehicle movement. Commuters faced significant delays along the route during the morning hours. Police personnel deployed recovery machinery to move the damaged vehicles to the shoulder and cleared debris scattered across the road surface. Normal vehicular movement was fully restored once the carriageway was deemed clear and safe for transit.
Police Investigation Underway Under Loharu DSP
Following the report of the fatal collision, Loharu Deputy Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Kumar arrived at the spot to oversee the situation and coordinate the investigation. The senior officer inspected the crash site and gathered operational briefings from attending personnel. Investigators are working to ascertain the precise circumstances that led to the frontal collision, focusing on vehicle speeds, lane adherence, and potential driver negligence. DSP Kumar stated that an inquiry into the causes of the collision is underway and that necessary legal proceedings are being carried out.
