Retired Indian Air Force Group Captain Amit Kumar Gupta was subjected to a violent assault over a vehicle parking issue in Gurugram. The highly decorated veteran, who actively participated in the 1999 Kargil conflict, was targeted by parking employees on Thursday evening when he arrived with his family at a local dining spot. The confrontation left the former officer with severe bodily injuries.
How The Dispute Escalated
The confrontation occurred at Magnum Global Park in Gurugram, where Gupta and his family had planned to dine at the Gonzo Restaurant. After letting his family members alight from the vehicle, Gupta sought to park his car. He faced immediate confusion as the parking staff continuously redirected him back and forth between the valet service, basement parking, and multi-level parking zones. According to Gupta, the situation worsened when he attempted to reverse his vehicle, leading an attendant to try and shatter his car's windshield.
Brutal Attack With Iron Rod
As the argument grew more intense, members of the parking staff allegedly retrieved an iron rod and launched a physical assault on the retired officer. The attack left Gupta with severe injuries, including a serious wound on his head and a fractured bone in his hand. Gupta also stated that the attackers openly threatened to end his life during the violent encounter.
Allegations Against Authorities And Ongoing Investigation
Beyond the physical trauma, the veteran has raised serious concerns regarding the post-incident response. Gupta has accused the local police department of failing to provide timely assistance. Additionally, he alleged that the medical facility where he was treated provided an inaccurate or falsified medical report. It is noteworthy that Group Captain Amit Gupta played a vital role in the Indian Air Force's 'Operation Safed Sagar' during the historic 1999 Kargil War. Local police have officially received his complaint and are currently conducting a detailed investigation to verify all allegations before taking further legal action.
