Panic Grips Rohtak's Busy Market
A sudden chain of powerful LPG cylinder blasts at a restaurant situated on the third floor of a building in Rohtak's Sector 3-4 market threw the busy commercial area into complete disarray. The explosions, which occurred on the rooftop of the eatery, sent thick smoke billowing into the air, prompting shoppers and traders present at the scene to flee in all directions as panic spread across the entire stretch of the market.
Flames Spread Rapidly to the Second Floor
The fire, which began in the restaurant's kitchen, grew quickly and spread well beyond the top floor, consuming the second floor of the building as well. Half a dozen fire brigade vehicles were rushed to the site as soon as the alarm was raised. Firefighters worked relentlessly against the blaze, and after approximately one and a half to two hours of sustained effort, they finally managed to bring the fire under control.
Short Circuit Suspected as the Trigger
Police have indicated that a short circuit is the most probable cause behind the explosion of the LPG cylinders stored in the restaurant kitchen, which in turn allowed the fire to escalate so rapidly. An official confirmation of the precise cause, however, is still awaited.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Narendra Kumar Arrives at the Spot
Rohtak's Additional Deputy Commissioner Narendra Kumar personally reached the site to assess the situation. He confirmed that the fire originated from a cylinder blast in the kitchen of the restaurant located on the market's top floor. He added that the administration remained fully deployed throughout alongside the half-dozen fire brigade units, keeping a close watch on every development as it unfolded. As a precautionary measure, the entire market was evacuated to keep the public out of harm's way.
No Lives Lost, Goods and Property Damaged
Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were reported in connection with the incident. The restaurant owner, while acknowledging the damage suffered by goods and property, expressed relief that the fire did not claim any lives. With the blaze now under control, both local traders and the administration were able to breathe a collective sigh of relief.
